"Providing cost effective maintenance programmes for organisations with a legal duty of care to safely manage tree stock"
Tree owners have a legal duty of care to have their trees inspected by a competent person (Tree Consultant) at regular intervals (read more of the legal side here) This is to ensure they do not pose an unacceptable risk to guests, trespassers or users of theirs and neighbouring land. This is particularly relevant for organisations such as schools, retirement homes, churches and sports/community centres. Cantia provides high quality tree safety surveys to assist clients in meeting their legal responsibilities. Upon instruction we will carry out a site visit to gather relevant information and assess tree stock. Under normal circumstances this would be carried out from the ground using VTA (Visual Tree Assessment) to analyse the bio-mechanical features of the trees.
The information gathered includes-
Tree species
Tree location
Canopy height
Canopy spread
Stem diameter
Life stage
Tree Condition
Significant bio-mechanical features
This information is then presented on an easy to read table along with a tree location map. Also included within the table will be recommended works to maintain safety whilst maximising tree stock longevity. These works will have a priority/time scale grading to identify risks which require immediate attention as opposed to lower grade works which can be carried out as part of routine maintenance programmes. The tree survey will provide a date for re-inspection to assist clients in meeting their legal responsibilities.
If required trees can be tagged with small discs to aid in identification.
Where further investigation works are recommended ( e.g. climbing inspection or decay detection) it will be highlighted in the work schedule recommendations.
